Take a lame pair of old jeans or an old black leather jacket and you can revive them with the application of some metal. By steel studs we do not mean blue collar iron workers from the nearest foundry.

What we mean is the button like stainless accessories that can be placed on almost any type of material and can be added as a highlight of the fashion cut with an especially made applicator. There are kits that you can buy which contain a number of steel studs and also an applicator that is kind of like a big stapler. You put one in the chamber and then you use the applicator to fasten the studs to the fabric of your choice. Load. Lock. Click on your design to fasten, and you have applied steel studs in a noticeable pattern to a garment that would otherwise go unnoticed.

These tiny metal accessories can be used to highlight any portion of your fashion statement, or they can be over-used and simply look ridiculous. So go easy. The key is to choose carefully what is the most important part to emphasize, then find the clothes to wear that enhance your physique and finally apply them to only the parts of the clothes that highlight the best features of what you want to be promoted and noticed.

Got a great butt? Apply steel studs around the edges on only one of your rear pockets. Proud of your Pecs, use steel studs around the pocket of your shirt or if there are no pockets, place two steel studs in the approximate area of your nipples on your shirt and leave the rest to the viewer’s imagination.

If you have any black leather, especially old black leather that is looking a bit dreary and worn out – run to get out the applicator and make that old jacket or vest have a new life. When it comes to black leather you actually cannot overdo it, so feel free to go wild – make your name in steel studs on the back of the leather jacket, put your phone number on your leather vest, or do something whimsical like putting the name of your ex-girlfriend in a heart next to the name of your ex-wife.

With these things you are free to graffiti your clothes with any kind of message you think is most inappropriate but that will call attention to yourself, which is of course the ultimate thing you wish to achieve.

Don’t forget about boots, and belts and hats. Stainless studs look good on all of them. They do look go on just about everything. We would however recommend caution on using them on your sheets. This may not give the best impression to your overnight guests so resist the temptation to use your steel stud applicator on the sheets, towels and curtains and remember in fashion less is sometimes more, so highlight with steel studs, don’t annihilate.
